Mike

Private legal AI for law firms

A legal AI workspace built around a firm’s own files. It searches case law, reads the documents the firm already has, and drafts memos and letters that cite the exact page they relied on.

Mike is open-source software under the AGPL-3.0 license. Cuanto Labs is an independent company that installs, configures and supports it for law firms, and is not affiliated with or endorsed by Open Legal Products. Our work is the setup, hosting and support, not the underlying application.

The Challenge

A personal injury firm and an M&A practice read different documents and draft different things, and no two firms keep their files the same way.

The Solution

Cuanto Labs sets Mike up for the firm and keeps it running. Each firm gets its own installation, hosted on its own hardware or in a private cloud account, with its own database and file storage and accounts added by the firm’s administrator. US case law is built in through CourtListener, and Mike checks citations against it before summarizing a holding. Templates, house style, research sources and review columns are configured for the practice areas the firm works in, and the firm picks the AI providers it approves, or a model run locally. Setup runs from a discovery call through build and connect, team training and ongoing care.
