How can I tell if my developer did the work I paid for?

Compare three things: what the contract or statement of work promised, what the code actually contains, and when the work was committed against when you were invoiced. A Project Health Check does exactly that, in plain English, with a gap table listing each promised item as done, partial or missing.

My developer disappeared. What do I actually have?

Usually more than you fear and less than you paid for. We list everything you can still reach: the code, the hosting, the domain, app store accounts, API keys and the database, who controls each one, whether the project builds and runs, and what it would take to finish it.

Should I fix the project or rebuild it?

It depends on how much of the code is usable, not on how much was spent. We rate each part of the system, estimate the cost to finish what exists and the cost to rebuild it, and say which is cheaper and why. Both numbers are ranges you can check with another developer.

How much does a project health check cost?

At Cuanto Labs it is $1,500 fixed for codebases up to about 50,000 lines and $2,500 for larger ones, delivered in five business days. Market reviews of this size run from about $2,000 to $5,000 according to Variant Systems, and automated scans under $500 rarely include a human read of the code.

Do I have to hire you to fix it afterwards?

No. The review is independent and the report is written so any competent developer can act on it. If you want us to do the fix, it is scoped and priced separately, after you have the report, and you are free to take the same report to someone else.

More questions

I don't have the code or the logins. Can you still help?

Yes. The ownership checklist is part of the review: we list every account the project depends on, who controls it today, and how to request each one. If there is no code to read yet, we start there and credit the review once access arrives.

Will my old developer know about the review?

Only if you tell them. We work from read-only access you grant and from documents you send, and we sign an NDA on request.

Is the report something I can show my lawyer?

You can share it with anyone. It is a factual technical review of the code and records you give us. It is not legal advice and not a legal opinion; for that, talk to an attorney.
