How Much Does Custom Software Cost in Miami? (2026 Guide)

What custom software actually costs in Miami in 2026, broken down by project type, with the published fixed-price bands we quote from and the factors that move a project from the low end of a range to the high end.

"How much will this cost?" is the first question every Miami business owner asks when a spreadsheet, a shared inbox, or a bolted-on WordPress plugin has stopped being able to run part of the operation. It is also the question most agencies avoid answering until after a sales call, a proposal deck, and a week of your time.

This guide answers it directly, with the same numbers we publish on our own pricing page. Nothing below is a "starting from" figure invented for marketing. It is what we actually quote, sorted by project type, with the reasons a real project lands at the low end of a range or the high end.

The typical ranges, by project type

These are typical ranges for fixed-price, custom-built software in the Miami and South Florida market as of 2026. A shop billing hourly, or one layering account management on top of the build, will usually price higher for the same scope.

  • • Backend APIs and database work, from $2,000, typically 1-2 weeks. REST or GraphQL APIs, PostgreSQL or Redis schema design, auth and permissions, deployment and monitoring. This is the floor because the scope is usually narrow: one system, one integration point.
  • • AI agents and automations, from $5,000, typically 2-6 weeks. A support agent, a document-processing pipeline, or a workflow automation wired into Slack, email or a CRM. Cost scales with how many systems the agent has to touch and how much error handling the failure cases need.
  • • Shopify stores and apps, from $5,000, typically 3-6 weeks. Custom Liquid themes, private apps, or a full store migration with a redirect map. A theme rebuild on an existing catalogue is cheaper than a migration off another platform.
  • • Custom web applications, from $8,000, typically 4-8 weeks. CRMs, dashboards, client portals and internal tools with a real backend, not a page-builder template. Most Miami projects we quote land in the $8,000 to $20,000 band; multi-role platforms with several third-party integrations run higher.
  • • Mobile apps for iOS and Android, from $15,000, typically 8-16 weeks. React Native and Expo so one codebase ships to both stores, with push notifications and offline-first architecture built in rather than retrofitted.

See the full published bands, including what each one buys, on the pricing page.

What moves a project from the floor to the ceiling of a range

The number people fixate on is the floor. What actually determines where a project lands is a shorter list than it seems.

Number of user roles

A single-user internal tool is a different build from a system with owner, admin and staff roles that each need different permissions and different views of the same data. Every additional role is another set of screens, another set of edge cases in what a user can and cannot see or do, and another set of tests. A Miami logistics company we quoted a portal for went from a $9,000 estimate to $16,000 the moment "warehouse staff" and "customer-facing view" turned out to need genuinely different permission boundaries, not just a hidden button.

Number of integrations

Connecting to one system (say, Stripe for payments) is a contained piece of work with well-documented APIs. Connecting to three or four (a freight system, QuickBooks, a legacy database with no API at all) multiplies both the build time and the number of things that can silently break later. Integration work is also where "it depends" answers come from most honestly: some vendors publish clean APIs, others require reverse-engineering a CSV export.

Data migration

If the project replaces something, the data currently living in that spreadsheet or that old system has to end up somewhere usable. Clean, well-structured data (consistent columns, no duplicate customer records) migrates cheaply. Data that has been hand-edited for years by different people rarely is, and cleaning it is real, billable work that a quote should say out loud rather than discover mid-project.

How much design work is needed

A functional internal tool for five employees needs far less visual design than a customer-facing portal your clients will judge your business by. We scope design time separately for exactly this reason: it is one of the biggest swings between two projects that otherwise look similar on paper.

Miami-specific cost factors

A few things come up often enough in Miami quotes specifically that they are worth naming.

Bilingual requirements. A support chatbot, a customer portal, or written documentation that needs to work in English and Spanish is not a translation afterthought bolted on at the end. It changes the content architecture (does copy live in a translation table, or in two parallel fields) and it changes testing (does a Spanish-language user path get the same coverage as the English one). Budgeting it in from day one is cheaper than retrofitting it later.

Industry-specific integrations. Import/export and logistics businesses often need freight or customs systems that were never built with a public API in mind, and real estate operations run on property-management systems (PMS) with wildly inconsistent documentation quality. Scoping calls with these industries usually run longer than average, because a meaningful part of the estimate is confirming what a given system will and will not let a new tool talk to.

Rescue projects. A meaningful share of the Miami work we quote is not greenfield. It is taking over a codebase a previous developer left half-finished or undocumented. These start with a paid audit rather than a blind estimate, because "finish this" and "restart this" carry very different price tags, and guessing which one applies before opening the code is how a fixed price turns into a bad one.

Fixed price versus hourly: what the number actually protects

A fixed price quoted before work starts protects you from the two most common ways a software budget blows up: scope drift (the project quietly grows past what was agreed) and rate creep (the same work costing more per hour six months in). It does not protect you from a badly scoped project: if the discovery call was rushed, a "fixed" price can still turn into a change-order fight later.

What to ask before accepting any number: what happens if a requirement changes mid-project, whether design and copywriting are included or billed separately, and who owns the code and infrastructure at handover. We cover the second and third question, along with four more, in how to hire a software developer in Miami.

Where Cuanto Labs fits

We are a founder-led studio: Eliran Yihye scopes and leads every engagement, working with a small, vetted network of senior contractors rather than an anonymous agency bench. Every price above is fixed before a line of code is written, published on our own site rather than gated behind a sales call, and covers work delivered to businesses across Miami, Fort Lauderdale and the rest of South Florida since 2019.

If you want AI specifically, we cover agent and chatbot pricing in more detail on the AI development in Miami page. If the honest answer for your business is a fractional technical lead rather than a one-off build, see what that costs at each tier in fractional CTO cost in Florida.

Get a real number

A published range is a starting point, not a quote. The only way to get an exact fixed price is a discovery call where we look at your actual workflow, your actual data, and your actual integrations. If you are not sure whether custom software is even the right call, start with our free audit: we will tell you honestly if a cheaper fix gets you the same result.
